What makes it special

Put a mask on and the fish are there. Rocks scattered through the bay draw them in, so snorkelling here asks for nothing more than a mask and a calm day.

The beach is sand, in a bay on Ibiza's north-east coast, with the island of Tagomago (Illa de Tagomago) out to sea. It works as a family beach, with a chiringuito, a tapas bar and watersports hire within reach. The northern end is naturist. Two kinds of beach share one bay, and nobody has to drive anywhere else to find theirs.

Good to know

  • Rocks lie in the water in parts of the bay. Look before you dive in; water shoes help.
  • The northern end of the beach is naturist.
  • There are no public toilets or drinking-water taps at the beach, and none nearby. Bring water or buy it at the beach bar.
  • Sunbeds and umbrellas are hired by the day, and supermarkets and a general shop are close by in the village.
  • A large hotel next to the beach plays loud music and entertainment in the evening.

Getting there

The two nearest car parks lie about 490 m and 750 m away in a straight line, the farther one on a compacted surface. From either one the rest is on foot to the sand.

The nearest bus stop is about 2.5 km away in a straight line, and the stop at Sant Carles about 3.3 km. Coming by bus means a walk at least that long on top of the ride, and longer by road.

Best time to visit

Best: a summer morning.

Avoid: evenings in the resort season, and the middle of the day in August.

The bay faces east, so the morning sun comes up over the sea and Tagomago while the sand is still quiet; in the evening the large hotel beside the beach plays loud music, and August puts the island at its busiest.
