Gigjagja Cave

About the place
Gigjagja Cave is located at the base of the Yerlheifshofdi cliff in southern Iceland. The entrance forms a clear silhouette resembling Jedi Master Yoda’s head, ears, and shoulders. The cave is spacious, offering remarkable acoustics with the sound of ocean waves hitting the black sands of Mirdalssandur. It has become a pilgrimage site for movie fans and photographers seeking unusual shots. The surrounding landscapes were used for filming the opening scenes of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, representing the planet Lah’mu.
