Lake Braies

Lake Braies

About the place

Lake Braies is a picturesque alpine lake in the Dolomites, located at 1,496 m above sea level. Its crystal-clear waters often have a turquoise‑emerald hue, reflecting the majestic peaks, including the rocky wall of Croda del Becco (Seekofel) towering nearby. The lake was formed by a landslide that blocked the valley, creating a natural dam and a deep mountain lake. Scenic walking trails run around the lake. In summer, boat rentals are available, and it serves as a starting point for hikes into the surrounding mountains. It is a favorite destination for nature lovers, photographers, and hikers — the lake is considered one of the most beautiful in the Dolomites.
