Lake Ibon de Arriel Alto

About the place
Lake Ibon de Arriel Alto is a high-altitude glacial basin surrounded by a chaos of granite boulders and the sheer walls of the Palas peak. Its deep waters are noted for their rich blue color, which contrasts sharply with the pale rocks and perennial snowfields reaching down to the water's edge. This "ibón" (lake) is considered one of the most pristine spots in the region, as reaching it requires a significant elevation gain away from the main hiking trails. The lake serves as a natural viewpoint, offering a stark panorama of the granite ridges and glacial landforms of the Tena Valley.
