Lower Arriel Lake

About the place
Lower Arriel Lake lies at 2170 meters in a massive glacial cirque dominated by Pico Palas. Its alpine flora forms a bright green carpet contrasting with gray granite cliffs. The cascade of Arriel lakes flows into this lower basin, creating streams and small waterfalls. Views of the sharp peaks and surrounding walls highlight the grandeur of the Pyrenean high mountains. The lake also serves as a base for climbers ascending Balaitus, the westernmost three-thousander of the Pyrenees.
