Madrigal de la Vera Natural Pool

About the place
The Piscina Natural de Madrigal de la Vera is one of the largest and most popular river pools in the Extremadura region. The swimming area is created by a small dam on the Alardos stream, right beneath the majestic arches of an ancient Roman bridge. The water descends directly from the high peaks of the Gredos mountains, ensuring it remains cool and crystal clear even during the peak of summer. The surrounding banks are reinforced with stone terraces to provide comfortable areas for sunbathing and resting under the shade of native trees. It is a gateway to the La Vera valley, a region renowned for its lush microclimate, traditional architecture, and numerous freshwater gorges.
