Mirador Square

You come out of a quiet residential street and the ground ends at a handrail, with open Atlantic below. Along the north coast the cliffs step away into the distance, and on a clear day the whole sweep of shoreline is laid out in front of you.

There is nothing to buy and nothing to queue for. The benches face straight out to sea, and the place is calm enough to sit for a while. The handrails and benches are showing their age, but the view is the reason to stop, and it holds up.

• There is no drinking water at the viewpoint or nearby, so bring your own.
• The nearest public toilets are about 780 m away.
• Seating is the benches along the edge, and they are dated.
• The nearest parking is about 290 m away, so expect a walk through the neighbourhood streets.

The square is easy to find by car. Parking sits about 290 m away in a straight line, and the last stretch is on foot through the streets of La Quinta.

By bus, the La Quinta stops are about 680–720 m away, which leaves a longer walk through the neighbourhood to the clifftop. The entrance to the square is wheelchair accessible.

Best: a clear day, in the morning or towards the end of the afternoon.

Avoid: days when low cloud sits over the north coast.

The whole point of the square is the long view along the cliffs and out to sea, and on the north side of Tenerife cloud often gathers over the coast and flattens it. Late in the day the light comes in low from the west along the coastline.
