What makes it special

At dusk the harbour splits in two. On one side luxury yachts sit moored along the quay; on the other, the floodlit walls of Dalt Vila climb the hill above the town. The waterfront between them is lined with restaurants, bars and cafés, and in the evening it fills with people out for a stroll, a drink with a view or the start of a night out. Watching the yachts and the crowd is half the entertainment.

For the best photograph of the old town, walk along the marina towards the breakwater after dark and look back at the lit walls.

Good to know

  • Free public toilets and a drinking-water tap are about 300 m away.
  • The quays get busy in the evening, and the harbour is part of the island's nightlife: the crowd stays out late.
  • The quays lie open to the sun, so the middle of a summer day is hot work.
  • A map board about 240 m away helps you get your bearings on arrival.

Getting there

The harbour lies at the foot of Dalt Vila, so from the old town you walk down to the water. By bus, the Eivissa stop is about 90 m away. Drivers have two car parks to choose from: a paid, private one about 335 m away and a free one about 470 m away. Cruise passengers come ashore at the harbour itself. Once there, the whole visit is on foot along the quays.

Best time to visit

Best: just before sunset and into the evening, when the walls of Dalt Vila are lit and the waterfront fills up. October is quieter and still warm.

Avoid: the middle of the day in July and August, when the open quays take the full sun; August is the hottest month in Ibiza Town.

The view and the atmosphere both depend on the light going down.
