Sabocos Lake

About the place
Sabocos Lake is a natural glacial lake (known locally as an ibon) situated at an elevation of about 1900 meters in the Pyrenees. It is set within a deep mountain cirque and is recognized as one of the deepest lakes in the area. The lake is surrounded by towering peaks, such as Pena Sabocos, which cast shadows that give the water a rich, dark blue color. It is often visited along with the nearby Asnos Lake, as the two are connected by a mountain trail. The site is popular for hiking, offering views of untouched alpine landscapes, snow patches that remain even in summer, and high-altitude pastures.
