Saint Barnabas Cave Chapel

About the place
Saint Barnabas Cave Chapel sits directly in a natural cavity of the rock, with a facade blending into the mountain massif. The interior has no artificial masonry; stone walls and vaults are adorned with vivid anonymous murals. The site is the spiritual center of one of the largest cave systems in the world, stretching over 100 kilometers. The surrounding terrain has high limestone cliffs covered with oak and beech forests. The white bell tower contrasts with gray stratified rock, creating a monumental image characteristic of northern Spanish karst.
