Santa Llucia Arch

About the place
Santa Llúcia Arch is located on a steep slope in the Sierra de Aitana, forming a dramatic natural portal between valleys. The surrounding landscape is quiet and rugged, with sun-baked highland plateaus covered in aromatic herbs and thorny shrubs alternating with sheer grey cliffs. The arch’s perfect geometry creates the illusion of a man-made cathedral entrance from a distance, while up close its wild power is overwhelming. During certain days of the year, around December 13th, the sun passes through the arch in a special way, historically serving as a guide for local shepherds. The site combines natural grandeur with timeless elegance, its clean stone lines evoking classical architecture.
