Tazones

About the place
Tazones is a small coastal settlement tucked between the green hills of Asturias and the Cantabrian Sea. The village gained historical fame as the first place where King Charles I of Spain and Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire landed in 1517. Its narrow streets are lined with traditional maritime architecture, where wooden balconies are often painted in bright shades of green, red, and blue. A standout landmark is the Casa de las Conchas, a private residence whose entire facade is meticulously covered in diverse seashells. The port area remains active with small fishing boats and is surrounded by restaurants serving fresh seafood and local cider. Nearby, the coastal cliffs contain fossilized dinosaur footprints, adding a geological significance to this picturesque location.
