View on the West Fjord

About the place
On Route 61 near Súðavík, a plain pull-in opens onto Ísafjarðardjúp — the wide fjord system whose name means 'the deep of the ice fjord.' Step off the tarmac and a broad panorama spreads across water, headlands and the stacked mountains of the Westfjords, with no walking involved. It is one of several scenic stops on this climbing stretch toward Ísafjörður. The compass-dial viewpoint is a separate stop further along.
