Bardastrandarsandur Beach

Bardastrandarsandur Beach stretches along the southern coast of the Westfjords in the historic Bardastrond region. The gently sloping shoreline is covered with sand that shifts from pale cream to warm orange hues. According to Icelandic sagas, Bardastrandarsandur Beach is linked to early settlement and the arrival of Floki Vilgerdarson. At low tide, wide sand flats are revealed, emphasizing the openness of the landscape. From the beach, there are broad views across Breidafjordur and its scattered islands.
