Gardar BA 64 Shipwreck

About the place

Gardar BA 64 Shipwreck lies on a sandy shore of a fjord in the Westfjords of Iceland. The vessel was built in Norway in 1912 as a whaling ship and later served as a fishing vessel. After decades of work in harsh northern waters, it was abandoned here in 1981. The massive rusted hull stands against blue water and green mountain slopes. The quiet surroundings turn the ship into a powerful monument of Icelandic maritime history.
