Seal Lookout
About the place
Seal Lookout is a signed roadside stop on Route 61 by Litlibær, along Ísafjarðardjúp in the Westfjords. From the free car park a short, level path leads to a viewing area over Skötufjörður, where wild harbour seals haul out on the rocks and skerries; in summer their pups rest among them. The animals often lie well offshore, so binoculars help, and sightings are best around low tide. The historic Litlibær turf farmhouse and café stand right next door.
