The Old Bookstore, Flateyri
About the place
The Old Bookstore stands by the harbour in Flateyri, a fishing village on Önundarfjörður in the Westfjords. It opened in 1914 as the village general store and still trades today, four generations on. The ground floor is a working bookshop where second-hand books are sold by weight. Upstairs, the merchant's apartment is kept as it was left in 1950.
