Vigur

About the place
Vigur is a small island in Ísafjarðardjúp, the wide fjord of Iceland's Westfjords; the same family has worked it for generations. In summer it fills with puffins, Arctic terns, eider ducks and one of the country's largest colonies of black guillemots, and the down is still gathered by hand from thousands of nests. Guided boats run from Ísafjörður; the visit lasts about three hours and ends with coffee and cake in the old farmhouse.
