Mongufoss (Hlidarhus) Waterfall

Möngufoss drops about 60 metres down the mountainside above Hlíðarhús, on the deserted Snæfjallaströnd — the coast along the northern side of Ísafjarðardjúp, in the Westfjords. There is no car park at its foot. You leave the vehicle where the track ends and walk in across open, roadless ground towards the fall's white thread. That effort is why it stays a secret: a tall, clean cascade almost nobody reaches.
