Stadardal Fishing Hut

The old fishing hut in Staðardalur is a low turf-and-stone booth on the shore of Súgandafjörður, near the village of Suðureyri. It is a verbúð — a seasonal shelter from the days when crews rowed out to fish — though many visitors mistake it for a 'Viking' house. Free and unstaffed, it sits right by the road, with a beach and birdlife around it. It works best as a short, quiet stop paired with nearby Suðureyri.
