Cascada de Arripas

Cascada de Arripas

About the place

Cascada de Arripas welcomes travelers at the beginning of Ordesa’s deep valley, where the Arasas River spreads wide and full. The water slides over smooth limestone, crashing against rocks in a myriad of splashes. Steep cliffs with glacial traces form a dramatic corridor, enhancing the sense of scale and verticality. Surrounding the waterfall, a dense beech and fir forest grows on the slopes, and the constant mist keeps the rocks moist and moss-covered. This section marks the start of a series of tectonic steps in the valley, shaping the cascading terrain as the river accelerates into narrower gorges.
