Cascada del Estrecho

About the place
Cascada del Estrecho forms one of the most dramatic points in the Ordesa Valley. The Arasas River, forced through a narrow rock channel, plunges with a roar into a deep basin carved over millennia. Steep cliffs bearing the marks of ancient glaciers frame the waterfall, and the constant spray creates a fine mist that softens the hard lines of the limestone. The narrow gorge accelerates the river’s flow, intensifying erosion and forming natural basins and rounded hollows in the rock. Mosses and ferns cling to the damp walls, adding vibrant green accents to the gray stone. Visitors can feel the immense power of water as it crashes below, a vivid demonstration of the geological forces that shaped the valley.
