Cascada de la Cueva

Cascada de la Cueva

About the place

Cascada de la Cueva complements the series of waterfalls along the Arasas River, flowing through a narrow gorge near Estrecho. Water plunges over a broad ledge into a deep niche carved into the rock, creating a striking translucent curtain. Steep cliffs with glacial traces frame the waterfall, and the constant shade keeps the air cool and humid. The erosion of softer limestone beneath harder layers has formed the natural overhang and amplified the sound of falling water. Along the path to the waterfall, exposed rock strata reveal the folded structure of the Pyrenees, telling the story of ancient geological forces.
