Dyrholaey Viewpoint

About the place

Dyrholaey Viewpoint is a high panoramic viewpoint located on the summit of a massive volcanic headland. The headland was once a separate island that later became connected to the mainland. From the viewpoint, the black coastline stretches westward, while the Reynisdrangar sea stacks rise from the ocean to the east. The main landmark is a giant stone arch carved by the sea, large enough for small boats to pass through. A lighthouse, steep cliffs, and nesting seabirds define the dramatic coastal landscape.
