Hofs Church

Hofs Church

About the place

Hofs Church is a historic turf church that blends naturally with the surrounding hills. Its stone walls and turf-covered roof provide natural insulation and a unique aesthetic. The church stands near an old cemetery with characteristic turf mounds over graves. It was the last church built in Iceland using traditional turf construction methods. Today, Hofs Church is preserved by the National Museum and remains an active place of worship.
