About the place

Husavik town has a long history and was the first place in Iceland where a Viking settled. Gardarr Svavarsson stayed here for one winter before official settlement. The town is known for its picturesque harbour with colorful wooden fishing boats. Husavik town is also famous for Husavikurkirkja, a unique cross-shaped church built from Norwegian wood. Visitors enjoy whale watching and geothermal pools at GeoSea with views of the ocean. Husavik town gained worldwide fame as a filming location for the movie "Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga."
