Hvalnes Lighthouse

About the place
Hvalnes Lighthouse was built in 1954 and remains operational. The 11-meter tall structure stands out vividly against dark basalt cliffs and the black pebble beach. The location offers a raw and majestic landscape where Atlantic waves crash against the rocky shore. It is an ideal spot to feel the scale and solitude of the East Fjords. The surrounding area is a nature reserve with abundant seabirds, and in winter, it is an excellent place to view the northern lights.
