Skutafoss Waterfall

Skútafoss sits in a valley near Höfn in southeast Iceland, and you don't see it until you're almost on top of it. The river bends around a rock spur, so the fall and the shallow cave in the cliff beside it stay hidden until the last moment. A short walk from a roadside car park follows the river up, passing a smaller fall on the way. It draws a fraction of the crowds of the south coast's big-name waterfalls — a local spot with a picnic clearing and views down the valley.
