Stokksnes

About the place
Stokksnes is a low, wind-scoured cape reaching into the Atlantic just east of the fishing town of Höfn, in southeast Iceland. Behind its black-sand beach and grass-topped dunes rises Vestrahorn, a jagged wall of scree peaks that is mirrored almost perfectly in the wet sand at low tide on a calm day. The land belongs to the Viking Café, which charges a small entry fee. Near the beach stands a wooden 'Viking village' built as a film set, now a photo spot; a working radar station sits out on the point. People come for the mountain and the reflections, not to swim.
