Lake Fedaia

Lake Fedaia

About the place

Lake Fedaia is a high-altitude alpine lake in the Dolomites, located at about 2,050–2,057 meters above sea level, at a mountain pass beneath the glacial massif of Marmolada. The lake was formed from glacial meltwater and was later transformed into a reservoir after the construction of a dam in the 1950s β€” combining the natural beauty of the Alps with human engineering. On clear days, the water reflects the surrounding peaks β€” including Marmolada and Civetta β€” creating especially striking views at sunset. A well-maintained path runs along the dam around the lake, making it ideal for walks; in summer the lake is a popular spot for hiking, relaxation, and photography. In winter and during the colder months, the area around the lake, together with the nearby slopes and ski lifts, becomes part of a skiing and mountain-sports zone.
