About the place
The Levada do Furado Trail (PR10) is a scenic hiking route on Madeira that runs from Ribeiro Frio to Portela, passing through the ancient Laurisilva forest with views of the island’s northern coast. The trail is about 10–11 km one way and follows an old irrigation channel built in the 19th century. It includes tunnels, narrow forest paths, and viewpoints, making it one of Madeira’s most impressive walks.
