Londrangar View Point

Lóndrangar is a pair of basalt pillars rising from the sea off the south coast of Snæfellsnes, the larger about 75 metres, the smaller about 61. They are volcanic plugs — the solid cores of an old crater, left after the looser rock around them eroded away. From the roadside viewpoint the two towers stand over a coast of lava and low cliffs. Seabirds wheel around them in summer, and arctic foxes turn up on the slopes. Few grand views on the peninsula are this easy to reach.
