Snæfellsjökull National Park

Iceland's only national park that runs unbroken from an ice summit down to the coast, on the far western tip of the Snæfellsnes peninsula. The centrepiece is Snæfellsjökull, a glacier-capped volcano visible from Reykjavík across the bay on a clear day. The park was established in 2001. Inside are moss-covered lava fields, bird cliffs, the black cove of Djúpalónssandur and the Lóndrangar sea-stacks.
