Malarrif Lighthouse

About the place
Malarrif is a tall white lighthouse on the southern tip of the Snæfellsnes peninsula in west Iceland. Its rocket-like Art Deco tower rises about 20 metres over a shore of black lava and pebbles. A first light was raised here in 1917; the present concrete tower dates from 1946. Beside it stands the main visitor centre of Snæfellsjökull National Park, opened in 2016. The Lóndrangar sea-stacks rise nearby, with the glacier behind on clear days.
