Vereda do Areeiro Trail
About the place
The PR1 Vereda do Areeiro trail crosses Madeira’s central mountain range. It runs between Pico do Areeiro (1818 m) and Pico Ruivo (1862 m). The route is about 7 km long and takes around 3.5 hours with moderate difficulty. Hikers encounter tunnels, steep slopes, and rocky outcrops. On clear days, the trail offers stunning panoramic views of mountains, cliffs, ocean, and valleys.
