Bulandshofdi View Point

About the place
Búlandshöfði is a high headland where the coast road climbs between Ólafsvík and Grundarfjörður, and the viewpoint near the top gives one of the widest open-sea outlooks on Snæfellsnes. On one side the land drops steeply to the water; on the other, cliffs rise over the road, and on a clear day the ocean runs straight to the horizon. Ice-age fossil seashells were found high in its strata — a rare record of ancient sea levels. Dark and open to the north, it is a quiet winter spot for the aurora.
