Kolgrafarfjordur Viewpoint

Kolgrafarfjörður is a small fjord on the north coast of Iceland's Snæfellsnes Peninsula. A curved, sword-shaped bridge crosses it, built in 2004 to replace the long drive around the water. The roadside viewpoint looks across the still inlet to the mountains, and on calm days the fjord turns to a mirror. It has become one of the peninsula's prime wildlife-watching spots — orcas, seals and dozens of bird species gather here, drawn by the herring that fill the fjord in winter.
