Kirkjufell

About the place
Kirkjufell — “Church Mountain” — rises 463 metres beside the coast road just west of Grundarfjörður, on the north side of the Snæfellsnes peninsula. It stands alone: a symmetrical cone with water on three sides. That is why it is photographed more than any other mountain in Iceland, and why the standard composition pairs it with the small Kirkjufellsfoss waterfall. Game of Thrones cast it as the arrowhead mountain beyond the Wall.
