Snorrastofa
About the place
Reykholt was the home of Snorri Sturluson (1179–1241), the chieftain, poet and historian who wrote the Prose Edda and Heimskringla. Snorrastofa was founded on the site in 1995: an exhibition on his turbulent life, guided tours, a library and a regular programme of lectures and concerts. Just outside is Snorralaug, a round stone hot pool among the oldest preserved in Iceland, once joined to Snorri's house by a tunnel.
