Kirkjufell Waterfall

Kirkjufell Waterfall

About the place

Kirkjufellsfoss is a small waterfall on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, outside the town of Grundarfjörður. Its fame comes almost entirely from what stands behind it: the 463-metre cone of Kirkjufell, the arrowhead mountain from Game of Thrones and Iceland's most photographed peak. The falls drop in neat parallel streams, giving photographers a foreground for the mountain. The classic viewpoint sits a few minutes' walk from the car park.
