Fosslaug Geothermic Pool

Fosslaug is a small natural hot pool ringed with turf and stone on a riverbank in Skagafjörður, a short walk from the broad Reykjafoss waterfall south of Varmahlíð. For years it was one of the north's quiet soaking spots — water close to body temperature, no changing rooms. In 2026 the landowner closed public access to both Fosslaug and Reykjafoss after a dispute over who was charging visitors and taking responsibility. Until it reopens, choose one of Skagafjörður's open pools instead.
