Glaumbaer turf farm and museum

About the place
One of Iceland's best-kept turf farms, Glaumbær sits on the flats of Skagafjörður and works today as the district folk museum. From outside it is a row of grass-roofed gables; inside, the houses connect into a warren of small rooms — kitchen, pantries, sleeping quarters and a long central passage — showing how a large household lived under turf walls into the twentieth century. The grounds are free; a ticket lets you inside. It stays open year-round.
