Galtahryggjarlaug Geothermal Pool

About the place
Galtahryggjarlaug Geothermal Pool is a small hot spring constructed from local stones and moss, blending naturally into the valley. The source is located on the grounds of the historic Heystadur farm. Water temperature is typically around 38–40°C, perfect for a secluded soak. The surrounding landscape is quiet and stark: steep slopes with sparse northern vegetation and a nearby creek. This remote location creates a true otherworldly experience, leaving visitors alone with the spirits of Icelandic mountains. There are no changing cabins at the source, but old farm structures nearby sometimes help with privacy.
