Drangsnes Hot Tubs

Drangsnes Hot Tubs

About the place

Three concrete hot pots sit on the shore in Drangsnes, a small fishing village on the remote Strandir coast of the Westfjords. The water comes from a borehole drilled after geothermal heat was found here in the late twentieth century. The villagers built the tubs by the roadside for anyone to use. The view runs across the fjord to the mountains, and on clear winter nights the northern lights can appear overhead.
