Gilsarfoss

Gilsárfoss sits on the Gilsá river in East Iceland, in the fjord country near Fáskrúðsfjörður. It is one of the few Icelandic waterfalls you can step behind: the stream splits over the rock, and a thinner flow runs past a shallow cave, so from inside you look out through the water. It is neither tall nor loud, and most people driving the fjords pass it without noticing. A short riverside walk from a small gravel pull-out gets you there.
