Rjúkandi Waterfall

About the place
Rjúkandi, also written Rjúkandafoss, is one of the few large waterfalls visible straight from the Ring Road. It sits in Jökuldalur, a long glacial valley in Iceland's eastern highlands, where the river spreads over a wide rock face and splits into several ribbons — the main one dropping about sixty metres. The name means 'the smoking one', after the veil of spray above it. A short path from the roadside lay-by reaches the foot in a few minutes.
