Litlanesfoss Waterfall

About the place
Litlanesfoss is the lower of two waterfalls on the Hengifoss trail in East Iceland, and many find it the more striking. The Hengifossá river drops about 30 metres through an amphitheatre of basalt columns — some dead straight, others gently curved — which gave it the local name Stuðlabergsfoss, or basalt-column falls. It sits partway up the climb through the Fljótsdalur valley, reached before the taller Hengifoss.
