Fardagafoss Waterfall

About the place
Fardagafoss falls about 20 metres into a mossy, rocky ravine on the slope above Egilsstaðir, five kilometres from town on road 93 toward Seyðisfjörður. Reaching it means a steady 25-minute climb from the car park, not a roadside stop. The reward is unusual: behind the water lies a collapsed lava cave you can pick your way into, tied to a legend of a troll guarding a cauldron of gold. The climb opens wide views over the plain and Lake Lagarfljót.
