Haifoss Waterfall

About the place

Háifoss is one of the smaller falls on the Fjarðará, the river that drops off the mountain pass above Seyðisfjörður in a run of about two dozen cascades. On maps the pin is often marked Múlafoss. The Fossastígur, a riverside trail from the town centre, follows the whole stretch, and a footbridge partway along gives the best view. It shares a name with the celebrated Háifoss in South Iceland, but this one is modest and local — the draw is the walk and the chain of falls, not one big drop.
