Tofufoss Waterfall

Tofufoss Waterfall

About the place

Tófufoss is a small, easily missed waterfall on the west side of the Fljótsdalur valley in East Iceland. Here the river Bessastaðaá makes its last drop off the highland plateau into a tight, moss-lined gorge. It is the lowest in a short chain of falls on the river, tucked just above a bridge and screened from the road, so most traffic passes without a glance. Cross the stile over the fence, walk a few minutes, and the compact little canyon is largely yours.
